Students will engage in a variety of applied learning and experiential activities and will complete multiple industry projects. Students will have access to computers in open access computer labs. College faculty are hired based on a combination of industry experience and academic qualifications. Most full-time faculty have relevant Master’s degrees and/or professional certifications where applicable to their field of expertise. Legal, social, and ethical issues as well as types and roles of various media, creative execution and the advertising budget are examined. Application of the theory and concepts will be related to either a company or self-directed cosmetic career. COURSE Code: COSM 27198 Film and Television Makeup Hours / wk: 3 Learners use a variety of techniques and products in the creation of makeup suitable for film and television. They further refine techniques to meet new broadcast technology including high definition. Students integrate film and televisoin set etiquette into classroom simulations using appropriate industry terms and expressions. They break down a script from the perspective of an on set makeup artist and learn to achieve continuity when shooting a production over an extended period of time. They also review the effect of film lighting and its impact on makeup application. Students perform applications under the time constraints typical of the film and television industry. COURSE Introduction to Portfolio Design Code: COSM 20133 Hours / wk: 3 After two years of intensive study, students now need the skills with which to present themselves to a prospective employer or client. The Cosmetic Portfolio course will guide the learner in the development of an exciting and dynamic professional image, from resume to creative visual portfolio. Emphasis will be placed on interdisciplinary skills necessary to make a strong first impression.
