As with any essay, your job will be to decide on one topic (don’t do a mix of topics), choose an angle, and write a convincing argument. In order to create a convincing argument, you MUST quote material to support your opinions. Failure to do so will result in a weak argument, and a low score. Essays should include at least one direct quotation and the page number from the text as internal citations for each paragraph. You must have an introduction, in which you mention the name of the work and the author, as well as your thesis statement. (see class notes for intro/conclusions). You must have at least three paragraphs supporting your thesis. Keep in mind the word count is 500 words minimum. You must have a concluding paragraph. Essays should be typed and double spaced. Failure to follow these simple rules tells me that you have not given this assignment the attention it deserves, and I will mark it accordingly.
