On your own piece of paper, please use these guidelines to make your own study guide for the final to be turned in for a
test grade the day of the multiple choice test.
TP-CASTT the following poems and song: “Hope is the Thing with Feathers,” “Sonnet 130,” “Abuelito Who,” “Poetry”
by Pablo Neruda, “Ode to My Socks,” “We Real Cool,” and “Strange Fruit.”
II. Reread “The Wheels of Life” article on Team Hoyt and make a list of 5 reasons and results from their running.
III. Reread “The Golden Kite, The Silver Wind” and answer the comprehension questions at the end of the story in the
green textbook.
IV. Define the following literary devices and give 2 examples of each being used in any of the previously listed poems,
To Kill a Mockingbird, or Romeo and Juliet: Repetition, Couplets, Alternating Rhyme, Iambic Pentameter, Voice,
Diction, Imagery, Syntax, Tone, Inference about Author, Allusion, Personification, Ode, 5 Kinds of Imagery (List,
define, give examples), Sonnet, Allegory, Foreshadowing, Character Foils, Round character, Flat character, Call and
Response (1 example only), Onomatopeia, Simile, Metaphor, Oxymoron, Pun, and Synesthesia.
V. In 2-3 sentences, describe each of the following R+J characters’ personalities in detail, state what side of the conflict
they are on, important actions or events they’re involved in, and give and paraphrase 2 notable quotes for them:
Romeo, Juliet, Benvolio, Mercutio, Rosaline, Friar Laurence, Capulet, Lady Capulet, Montague, Lady Montague,
Tybalt, Prince Escalus, County Paris, Nurse, Sampson, Gregory, Abraham, and Balthasar.
VI. In 2-3 sentences, describe each of the following TKAM characters’ personalities in detail, important actions or habits
they have, and significant changes they go through in the story: Atticus, Scout, Jem, Calpurnia, Miss Maudie
Atkinson, Aunt Alexandra, Cousin Francis, Mrs. Dubose, Tom Robinson, Bob Ewell, Burris Ewell, Mayella Ewell, Boo
Radley, Nathan Radley, Dill Harris, Helen Robinson, Mr. Dolphus Raymond, and Tim Johnson.
VII. Be able to identify subjects, verbs, adjectives, adverbs, prepositions, and conjunctions. Copy 6 sentences from
TKAM and identify each of the listed parts of speech in them.

following: Title Page, Abstract, Works Cited page, Quotes in Essay, Header, and Footer.
