A SURVEY PAPER ON SERVICE ORIENTED ARCHITECTURE APPROACH FOR WEB SERVICES Diana Geangalau (dgeangal@utdallas.edu) Computer Science Department The University of Texas at Dallas Software Architectural Design ABSTRACT The following document aims at presenting the application of the service-oriented architecture on web services. The document gives an introduction to web services followed by a description of how the service-oriented architecture applies to these services regarding the three principles of modularity, encapsulation and loose coupling. A brief overview of how SOA configures entities (services, registries, contracts, and proxies) to maximize loose coupling and reuse will follow as well as the modularization techniques and major approaches in XML-based interface design. The final part of the document will comprise the conclusion on the capabilities of a service-oriented architecture to simplify enterprise integration.
