He has authored more than 10 books and spends his time helping men do Bible study and live out their faith in the marketplace. He and his wife, Leette have four children, one of whom has gone to be with the Lord. Huddle A: The place of works in the Christian Life Huddle B: Defining our purpose when it comes to doing ministry Huddle C: How husband and wife roles influence their children 2) Leette Henrichsen met Walter Henrichsen while on staff with the Navigators. Walter was made a Nav staff member because he married Leette. They have co-labored together for almost 45 years. She continues to minister to women, her children and seven grandchildren, and her husband. (I Peter 3:1-6) 3) Lee Yih has degrees from UC Berkeley, Stanford Business School, and Dallas Theological Seminary, has been married for 36 years, and has worked in private client sales for three investment banking firms and co-founded an educational business. He believes we are living in the end times and has dedicated his life to promoting "Lay Ministry" in the US and China. His interests include the Boston Red Sox, doing mischief for the Lord among Chinese Scholars at Harvard and MIT, and having great theological discussions over a cigar. She has been married to Lee for 36 years and they have 3 adult children. In Hong Kong, after being a stay-at-home mom for 15 years, she returned to work as a teacher and counselor. She started up a business, and later began development work at HKIS. She now works as a senior consultant for Brakeley, Ltd. helping schools in Asia with fundraising. She speaks at conferences and is also a published author. She is currently writing, “Reversing The Curse,” and the children’s allegory, “Greener Pastures.” Huddle A: Making the Gospel relevant by using contemporary metaphors (examples from movies, technology, medicine, etc) Huddle B: Making a difference for Christ in the workplace Huddle C: Marriage: the Ultimate Challenge (just when you thought you didn’t really need to change that much more) 5) Michael Ainslie – was born and raised in Portland, Oregon and went to U. of Washington in Seattle on a swimming scholarship. He graduated in accounting and has worked in a small CPA firm in Seattle, and spent 16 years in Hong Kong with Price Waterhouse and Deloitte where he made partner. He is married to Karen Lin Hing Cheung Ainslie (in his 27th year of marriage) whom he met in college during a summer mission trip to Hong Kong, and they have two children in college, Joshua at Stanford (yr 4) and Alisan at Cal Poly SLO (yr 1). He and Karen currently live in San Jose where he works as a tax and financial consultant and as an executive coach. Huddle A – The Great Commitment: How Matt 6:33, calls us to boldly let go of our standard of living in order to boldly participate in the Great Commission Huddle B – Revolutionary or traditionalist: Knowing where you fit and where you thrive in ministry Huddle C – Learning self-awareness: How this will impact your marriage (and professional life) more than your IQ, your education, and your experience 6) Karen Ainslie – was born and raised in Hong Kong where she met her husband of 26 years as his interpreter in Bible studies with young people at her church. She graduated from Hong Kong Baptist College and proceeded to obtain a MS degree from University of Washington. Since then she has been teaching math and science off and on for two decades from junior high to college level. What she values and enjoys most is being a wife and mother of two children, and is convinced that only by God’s daily grace can she remain steady and faithful in such roles. He has spent nine years in Christian work and the past 19 years as a placement consultant in financial services and education. He and his wife, Ruth, have been married for 27 years and have three adult children. Scott believes a focus on the eternal (including ministry) is a biblical requirement for all believers and is on a constant quest to maintain such a focus while juggling the many responsibilities and personal interests of life. Huddle A: Focusing on the eternal while juggling the temporal Huddle B: Gaining access to your neighbor and colleagues Huddle C: Overcoming faulty notions of marriage 8) Ruth Hall graduated with a BSN degree in nursing from Biola University. She worked for five years as a nurse, mostly in pediatrics before she met and married Scott. Her ministries have been varied – from mentoring young women to teaching Bible studies, to caring for their elderly moms. Huddle A: Using career abilities in ministry Huddle B: The importance of knowing and using God's Word in ministry Huddle C: Marriage – The selection process 9) Robert Newell has been married to Ethel for 36 years, has 3 adult sons and now 2 daughters through marriage. He has held financial management positions in Silicon Valley with medical and technology companies for over 20 years and has taken 4 of them public. His and Ethel’s mission statement for their marriage is – To nurture our relationship with God, each other and others. Huddle A: What’s the good of failure? Huddle B: Is being a friend a ministry? Huddle C: Leading your family 10) Ethel Newell has been married for 36 years and has raised 3 children, 2 of whom are married. Her favorite volunteer activities have been as leader in Bible Study Fellowship and leading prayer groups. But her current passion is serving ministry leaders working with at-risk youth. Her interests include writing and spending time with friends and family hiking, skiing, traveling and sharing the sacredness of ordinary moments. Huddle B: Spiritual friendships, the hidden treasure of great worth Huddle C: Choosing children over career – my journey 11) Richard West is a husband of one (married to his wife Kim for 21 years), father of 3 and a friend of Lee Yih. He has a degree from the University of Kentucky, worked 16 years with Procter and Gamble and co-founded a Marketing Agency with a Great Commission foundation, focusing on helping businesses and men integrate faith at work. His interests include Kentucky Basketball, an efficient round of golf, and being a dad. Huddle A: How to use your business for Kingdom purposes 24/7 Huddle B: Getting people to ask you, “Why…?” (Napkins required) Huddle C: How my wife inspires me to be the Man that God wants me to be 12) Kimberly West has been married for 21 years to Rick and is a mother of 3 (one biological daughter and son and an adopted daughter from China). She is a registered Dietitian and a Certified Focus Group Moderator who spent 12 years with Procter and Gamble. She has also served as a teaching leader for Community Bible Study International, is a leader for Moms In Touch, and is a teacher/speaker for small group Bible Studies, Women’s Retreats and Conferences. Her interests include photography and faith booking. After law school there, he practiced in New York City and in Silicon Valley, and later formed his own firm. A business lawyer, Greg also works as marketing director at Chen-Yu Enterprises, L.L.C., a Michigan-based bank technology firm. Married to Dorian Ho, their two children are now in college. Greg works with young people in college choices and career planning. He enjoys writing, music, and biographies. Huddle A: Making time beats making money – hands down Huddle B: Connecting with a different generation Huddle C: Marriage across ethnic divides 14) Dorian Ho is a graduate of The Juilliard School and Vienna Academy of Art and Music, and has a PhD from NYU. Dorian has performed as soloist with orchestras and ensembles from around the world, including Moscow Chamber Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony, and St. Petersburg String Quartet. She is a faculty member of the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, the choir director for Grace Gospel Christian Church and the mother of two children in college. Huddle A: How to bring people closer to God through music and work Huddle B: The art (not science) of listening Huddle C: How to pray for your partner in life 15) Olivia Lee, born and raised in China, found the Lord through an American missionary. Her faith grew while being part of an underground house church. She was associated with Campus Crusade for Christ in China before meeting her Chinese-American husband and moving to Boston. Her passion is evangelism. She and her husband are currently ministering to Chinese scholars and students at Yale University. Huddle A: The joy of outreaching to students and scholars from China Huddle B: My perspective of Christian ministry in China Huddle C: Lessons learned in a young cross-cultural marriage 16) David Chu, born in mainland China during the cultural revolution, David was brought to Hong Kong while only 7 years old. Although rebellious and self-centered before immigrating to Canada, he found Christ through prayer, was called to the ministry during his final year at McGill and received his M.Div from Ontario Theological Seminary. He has been single since his wife left him more than 20 years ago and currently manages the family business. He is planning a new layman’s ministry in Hong Kong which focuses on spiritual coaching and marketplace ministry. Huddle A: Thoughts on being a Christian while being the boss Huddle B: What I have been learning about the Layman’s Ministry Huddle C: God’s healing and restoration after a marriage break up 17) Sanford Dawson is a graduate of Union College in New York and has an MBA from IMI/IMD in Switzerland. He is a widower with two children and has lived most of his adult life in Asia as a commercial and investment banker and developer. He currently supervises all Chinese language training of US diplomats in China for the State Department at the US Embassy Beijing. He often works with couples on cross-cultural issues in his ministry and with individual men. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University and a Master of Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. David has been employed as a tennis pro, performed professionally as a magician, hosted a weekly radio program, and worked for a Wall Street investment firm. For the last twenty one years, David has traveled the U.S. and overseas on behalf of That Day, Inc. (2 Timothy 1:12), meeting with business and professional people who are considering the bigger issues of life and faith. He has never been married.
