Medical Makeup Assignments
To receive credit in Physical Education when you have a medical excuse, you must
complete a writing assignment. Medical excuse writing assignments are determined based
upon length of medical excuse. Medical excuses that are for 3 to 5 days, will have to hand
in two (2) 1 ½ page current event article reviews. Medical excuses that are two weeks in
length, 6 – 10 days, will have to hand in four (4) 1 ½ page current event article reviews.
Medical excuses that are 3 – 4 weeks in length will have to write a research paper that is
four (4) pages long. The research paper is in place of the 4 week unit that the student has
signed up for. If the student is out for more than 4 weeks during a marking period, the
student will have to write two research papers, one for each of the activities that they
chose. Your teacher will circle the assignment that you will be responsible for.
1. 3 – 5 days
a. 2 current event article reviews that are 1 ½ - 2 pages long, double spaced, Times New Roman 12
font
b. Find a sports related article in the news paper, magazine, or computer based article. The article
has to be at least one page long. Cut or print the article out
c. Read the article and tell me who wrote the article, where the article came from, what the article
is about, why you chose the article, and who would benefit from reading the article.
d. Hand in the 2 articles with the 2 article reviews by the end of the week.
2. 6 – 10 days
a. 4 current event article reviews (two for each week) that are 1 ½ - 2 pages long, double spaced,
Times New Roman 12 font
b. Find a sports related article in the news paper, magazine, or computer based article. The article
has to be at least one page long. Cut or print the article out
c. Read the article and tell me who wrote the article, where the article came from, what the article
is about, why you chose the article, and who would benefit from reading the article.
d. Hand in the 4 articles with the 4 article reviews by the end of the 2 weeks
3. 3 – 4 weeks
a. Research the sport that you chose to participate in.
b. Write a 4 page paper discussing the history, rules, and skills required to participate in the sport.
c. The paper must be 4 pages, double spaced, Times New Roman 12 font, and must include a
cover page.
4. 5 – 10 weeks
a. Research the 2 sports that you chose to participate in.
b. Write two 4 page papers discussing the history, rules, and skills required to participate in the
sports.
c. You will write one 4 page paper for each of the activities that you signed up for.
d. The paper has to be 4 pages, double spaced, Times New Roman 12 font, and has to have a
cover page.
