We have had a busy month with lots of new learning experiences and fun. It was
Halloween last month which the children and parents really enjoyed with lots of games and party food. We had the maidenhead advertiser take photos to put in the
Halloween edition.

Technology
The children still love playing on the smart table. The children enjoy learning new programmes from matching card pictures to numbers, gingerbread man story listening, music mouse movement and making cars.
From this learning experience the children can complete a simple program on a computer and know that information can be retrieved from computers.

The children still learn to recognise their numbers through counting, adding using everyday resources such as bears and train.
The children have also been learning about numbers through movements of the body eg: 1 is right arm out, 5 is shaking your bottom, 10 is for a clap etc
The children have to show me the movement when I call out the number. The children have also been making their own number plate to recognise how many and numerals as well.
The children still count numbers at circle time while some children enjoy writing their numbers from memory through art and drawing.
Autumn has come. The children have really enjoyed playing in the garden surrounded by all the falling leaves. The children and I pretended that leaves were falling down on us by throwing the up into the air to allow them to fall on top of our heads. It was a lot of fun.

From this learning experience, the children begin to identify own mathematical problems based on own interest and fascinations to recognise numerals 1-5. From this learning experience the children also show an interest in number problem, as well as being able to count up to 20.
Some of the children have enjoyed playing with the clocks that we had made for the home corner to play with.

The children have been very creative. The children have been making texture collages, bird collages using feathers.
The children have also been constructing through being very creative by making houses, and pyramids.
The children still love playing in the science area where they explore with mixing colours to see what happens and to experiment in creating different textures with coloured rice, flour and pasta.

From this learning experience the children understand that different media can be combined to create new effects and to be able to construct with a purpose.
The children also learn to select tools and techniques needed to shape, assemble and join materials they are using.

Children are still drawing a lot of pictures and forming letters using pencils to form letters and numbers.
Some of the children have been making a party list, making a shopping list through imaginative play.
From this learning experience, the children use a pencil and hold it effectively to form recognisable letters, most of which are correctly formed.

The children are still encouraged to write their names or first letter on their drawings or pictures. The children have been forming, the letters of their names using strings.
From this learning experience children give meanings to marks they make as they draw, write and paint.
They also write their own name and other things such as labels, captions by hearing and saying the initial sounds in words.
From this experience, they also learn to link sounds to letters, naming and sounding the letter of the alphabet. The children also distinguish between the different marks they make.

The children have really enjoyed listening to stories brought from home and our new library books. Some of the children have used their favourite book from nursery as a resource to draw pictures of their favourite characters. The children have been drawing and making their own story book ‘Pirate Book’

From this learning experience, the children also understand that information can be retrieved from books and computers. The children also show an interest in illustrations and prints in books, and print in the environment.
We would like to say thank you to Telemachos mum for coming in to take an art and design club. The children got to make a snail collage using lots of paint, paper & magazines.
We would also like to thank Alexa’s mum coming in to read a story to all of the children in Pre School.

Jessica Porter is now 4 making her the oldest girl in pre school. We would also like to welcome Lizzie and Issac Owolabi to Pre
School and Positive Steps. We would like to welcome all the new Ladybirds (Pre School) from the bumblebees (Toddlers) room.
