My name is Irene Fernando from STLF - Students Today Leaders Forever National. We are a nonprofit
organization based out of Minneapolis, Minnesota. Our mission revolves around servant leadership and
leadership development of students of all ages through community service opportunities and service
learning on college campuses, in high schools, and in communities all across the nation.
The major project of STLF is a spring break opportunity called the Pay it Forward (PIF) Tour, a community
service road trip, taking buses of 40 people and stop in five cities along the way doing various service
projects in each city. This began as a college spring break trip, and has moved to the high school and
middle school levels. This Fall, from October 17th –21st, eight High School PIF Tours will be sent out to
Chicago, IL.
On the PIF Tour, we focus on three aspects:
(1) Education— of a city, an issue, a need, an opportunity, etc.
(2) Interaction— with community members, other organizations, politicians, etc.
(3) Reflection— of oneself, ideas, society, etc; through evening activities, discussions, etc.

lead by a core of college students who spend months organizing and planning for the trip. Your student is
leading a bus this year, and we are extremely thankful to have him/her. He/She is an incredible,
optimistic, and energetic individual who will undoubtedly be an asset to the PIF Tour.
I understand school is in session during the above dates; however, this is an amazing opportunity and a
