THINGS FALL APART PROVERBS – HONORS WORLD LITERATURE
Due Monday, April 20; 20 points
Proverbs play an important role to the Ibo people. In the novel Things Fall Apart, Chinua
Achebe writes, “proverbs are the palm oil with which words are eaten” (7). Your task is to create
a poster (8 ½ x 11) that illuminates the meaning of the proverb. Requirements:
1. Proverb written out with page number in MLA citation
2. Visual that depicts the proverb
3. An explication of the proverb – explain what it means
4. Be creative – use color, interesting shapes, borders, shading, etc. I recommend using
Word or InDesign (if you have it). You may wish to add your own creative touch to it
with drawings or other art/craftwork. Please be neat!
