From Our Pastor
My dear friends in Christ,
Thursday of this week we celebrated the funeral
Mass for Charles H. Lavely. Charlie was certainly no
stranger to our parish and community as he was a
teacher and principal for the Loogootee Jr. High School
for nearly 35 years. He also shared his musical ability
with the parish as he was our parish senior choir director
for many years. His kind and gentle spirit will be greatly
missed by all of us. May he rest in peace. Amen.
At this time, I would like to wish all of you a Very
Merry Christmas and a Blessed Holiday Season. This is
my first Christmas at St. John the Evangelist as your
pastor. It truly is a great honor for me to be here and to
be able to serve you in the name of the Lord. I am most
appreciative to all you as you share your many gifts and
talents with the parish. I ask that you keep me in your
prayers, so that I may serve you well and be there to help
you. Please know that you are in my prayers each day.
Be certain to take home the Prayers for Every Day
booklet in the white envelopes, which is a little
Christmas gift for you. There is a booklet for every
person in the parish.
Our Christmas Mass schedule is as follows:
Children’s Mass at 4:00 PM on Christmas Eve;
Midnight Mass; Christmas Day Masses at 7:30 AM and
10:00 AM.
You will find at the doors of the church, the 2015
religious church calendars for you to take home. We are
most grateful to the Brocksmith-Blake Funeral Home for
donating the calendars.
January 1st is the Solemnity of Mary, the Mother of
God and is a Holy Day of Obligation. Our Mass
schedule is as follows: the Vigil on Wednesday at
6:00 pm; and on Thursday at 8:15 am and 6:00 pm.

**WINTER WEATHER
**If school is delayed, the 8:15 scheduled Mass or
Communion Service will continue. However, if school
is cancelled, the morning Mass or Communion Service
will also be cancelled.
Youth News
with Mark Potts
During the month of November (AND NOW
DECEMBER) every Wednesday we will be
meeting at the St. John Center at 6 PM (1 hour
before religion) to work on making blankets and
other items for residents at the nursing home for the
coming winter months. We will have drinks and
some snacks for the students while they are
working.
This is a great opportunity for
Confirmation service hours or a service project.
Thanks to those students who came out and
helped with the St. Nick Meal. The students help
prepared over 350 meals for members of the
community! Those students included Liz Burch,
Renee Burch, Breanna Holloway, Logan Jacobs,
Sean Lents, and Katie Sims.
Thanks to Corbin Henninger and Brayden
Horsting for coming and helping out Saturday at
the Toy Store. Your help and time was much
appreciated!
We will be having an euchre tournament on
Monday, December 29th at 7 PM after the Monday
Mass. Prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd
places along with most lones. Anyone is welcome
to come and join!! We will need student volunteers.
Student volunteers please be there on Monday
around 6:30 to help set up! Thank you!!
