Halloween
Holidays
Halloween is on October 31 every year.
We go to different houses and get candy.
We dress up. This year we dressed like
Lucy, pumpkins, scream, devils, Jason,
angels, pirates, witch, vampires,
Hawaiian girl, skeleton, a cheerleader
and more.
Here are some facts about Halloween
and this is the website I found this stuff
on!
http://www.crewsnest.vispa.com
/halloweenfacts.htm. Halloween is one
of the oldest celebrations in the world,
dating back over 2000 years to the time
of the Celts who lived in Britain and
northern France. It has its roots in the
feast of Samhain, which took place on
31 October each year to honor the dead.
The facts I found on the Internet tell a
little bit about Halloween and this
holiday is a really unusual holiday.
We get pumpkins from the store. We
carve them, and we get the seeds out.
Then we carve it like a face or a witch.
You buy a candle and put it inside.
We celebrate Halloween at school early.
My second holiday I am doing is Flag
Day and the Internet site I found is
http://www.umkc.edu/imc/flagday.htm.
Here is some info about our holiday Flag
Day! This is the birthday of our national
flag. Each year this day on the calendar
to reminds us of the day the Stars and
Stripes became our national flag-June
14, 1777. Honor our flag this Flag Day
and learn about many different kinds of
flags. Catch the wave of flag fever!
We have carnivals at school. People
dress up and play games like ping pong
ball toss. We had a haunted house this
year. In one game somebody stands up,
and we throw a pie at him or her.
Sometimes we miss, but we try to hit
their heads. There is a marriage game
and a prize booth. There are teachers
who sit on a board and you throw a ball
to a target. The target wiggles, and if the
thing goes down, they fall into the water.
There is a cakewalk. There's bowling,
and you win Tickets. There's an Astro
Jump. All the kids jump up and down
and bounce high. At the carnival we can
also put people in jail by the playground,
and we do walking wheelbarrows.
The third holiday I am going to do
Memorial Day and the Internet site I
found was http://www.historychannel
.com/exhibits/memorial/memorial.html.
Here are some facts I found out about
the holiday Memorial Day! Memorial
Day is much more than a three-day
weekend that marks the beginning of
summer. To many people, especially the
nation's thousands of combat veterans,
this day, which has a history stretching
back all the way to the Civil War, is an
important reminder of those who died in
the service of their country.

I celebrate December 25 because it is
special. My family celebrates with me at
home. I like it because it is fun.
We have five holidays. We like to
celebrate them because they are part of
our culture. My favorite holiday is
Christmas because I get presents. What I
want this Christmas is a minimotorcycle. My mom said I might not
get it. If I don’t get a motorcycle I want
a PS2 game station.

Holidays in Kazakhstan
There are some big holidays in our country.
We celebrate New Year on the 31st of
December. People go to the Central Square
of our town to see the Christmas tree. We
slide down from big ice-mountain in the
Square Then people go for a walk. People
make fireworks in the Square and in their
yards. . We have a New Year party at home.
We decorate our home and street of our
town with the help of lights, tinsel and paper
snowflakes.
On March 8th there is a holiday for women.
On that day children congratulate their
mothers and grannies. They give them
different presents and say how they love
them. Men give flowers and presents to their
women.
On that day we wish our dearest and nearest
a “Happy New Year.” When clock strikes
twelve we drink a toast to the New Year.
There are many presents we can find under
the home Christmas tree. And every year
we have the same popular films on the TVset: Irony of fortune, Shurik’s adventure and
other comedies. The most popular concert is
in New Year night. There are many famous
sing and singer in it.
Then we celebrate Easter. On Easter Sunday
people give each other eggs, which were
colored, and Easter cake. Russian Easter
cake is made from curds and raisins. People
shouldn’t say “Hello.” They say, “Christ is
risen!” and you should answer, “He is risen
indeed!” One week before we bring home
willow branches and on Easter Sunday they
blossom.
Children and adults like this holiday because
it is the most interesting and funny one.
On April 1st there is a day for fun ñ April
Fool’s Day. Children like this day very
much. They play jokes and tricks on other
people.
But on the 22nd of March there is Nauryz
(Kazakh’s new year). There are many
people in Kazakh costumes in the street.
People go to the Central Square and have tea
and play different national Kazakh games.
October 25 - the day of independence of our
Republic. On the 1st of May there is
Universal day of work. On this day we don’t
go to school and go to the parade along town
streets with balloons, flowers. On the 9th of
May there is Victory day in our country. We
congratulate veterans and give them concert.
The heads of our town give them presents,
too.
The 14th of February is St. Valentine’s Day.
People buy or make Valentine heart-cards
and sent them to people they love. There are
different cards to suit all tastes.
I’ll be your sweetheart
If you will be mine,
All of my life
I’ll be your Valentine.
December16th - the day of independence of
our Republic. It’s new holiday in our
country. But it’s popular.

The violets are blue,
The honey’s sweet
And so are you.

Christmas and Christmas Eve
Christmas
The holiday I chose is Christmas Eve
and Christmas Day. Christmas Eve
Night, I go to one of my aunt’s and
uncle’s house, and we have a feast!
Then, we open our presents. Next, we
have desserts. Last, we go home. Early
on Christmas morning my sister, Chelsa,
and I go downstairs to get our stockings
and go in one of our rooms. Next, we
wait until my other sister and parents
wake-up or Chelsa and I will wake them
up. After that, the whole family opens
presents. Last, we have a special dinner.
I wish Christmas Eve and Christmas Day
were every week.
Every year on Christmas morning, my
sister and I are usually the first ones to
wake up. Since we wake up at about
7:30 A.M., we wait about an hour so we
can wake my parents up, and ask them if
they can come down so we can open our
presents. When my sisters and I start
opening our presents, my parents usually
just watch. Then we give them their
presents and they open them. My family
and I always have the best time on
Christmas!

When my family celebrates Christmas
we cannot go down stairs to our family

CHRISTMAS
Pet Day
I like Christmas because it is about joy
and leaving the bad things behind. I
personally like to give more then
receive. I like to see smiles on people’s
faces. For example I went to a party
where you exchange gifts. I brought a
gift to the party and got one, but I gave it
away. Christmas is great. Christmas is
to celebrate Jesus Christ’s birthday.
If I could make a holiday it would be
called “Pet Day.” Pet Day is when you
bring your pet everywhere that you go.
At school, your pets will sit in little
desks. At work, your pets will wear
matching outfits with their owners. Pets
will have little cages to sit in while you
do your work. Either at school or work
there will be a pet show. Each pet will
receive a special treat.
When it’s
lunchtime, pets can choose from
different snacks on the pet buffet. After
lunch, everyone relaxes or plays with
their pets. I think the pets will have the
best time at school during gym with their
owners because they get to do a lot of
exercise! Finally, everyone must bring
in supplies to help the pets without
families. That shows respect towards
animals.
HAVE A GREAT CHRISTMAS!!

Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving
On Thanksgiving my family and I go to
my Aunt Lynn and Uncle Mike’s for a
big dinner. We have lots of desserts and
food to eat. It’s even more fun when my
two cousins are there. Their names are
Caitie and Billy. Caitie is 21 and Billy is
17, they aren’t kids anymore, they are
adults. They live in Pennsylvania in a
town
called
Lansdale.

leave to come

A holiday I celebrate is Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is when you give thanks
for everything. When my family has
Thanksgiving, we invite a bunch of
people to our house. We eat all kinds of
foods such as: turkey, corn, and stuffing.
Thanksgiving comes on the last
Thursday of November. Look forward

They have really nice trees. My mom
brings hot chocolate and cookies. After
we get our tree, everyone comes back to
my house and my mom and dad make a
big dinner and a delicious one too. We
do a lot of talking! That is what I do on
my Thanksgiving weekend. This is why
I chose this special day.
Christmas
Christmas is a holiday that my family
and I celebrate.
I like to celebrate
Christmas because our whole family gets
together and we get lots of presents. We
also eat lots of food like shrimp and

A Holiday
Kids Day
Halloween is a holiday that I celebrate. I
start by carving a pumpkin. Next I go to
school in my costume and everyone gets
to see whom I am. Then my friend and
me go Trick or treating. After that we
come home and count our candy. Last
we go to bed. That's how I celebrate
Halloween.
If I were to create a holiday, I would call
it Kids Day. Kids Day would be
celebrated on June 15th every year.
Kids all over the world would celebrate
this day. The purpose of this day would
be to give one day out of the year that
kids are in charge without their parents
bossing them around or telling them
what to do. Kids will get to do whatever
they want besides taking over the world
and going to school I think you would
really want to be a kid so you don’t miss
out on this holiday!!!!! Kids Day is the
holiday of my dreams.

Moon Day
Moon Day is a Chinese holiday usually
celebrated in January. Moon Day is the
day the moon shines the brightest.
Every Moon Day, you would have a
traditional Moon cake that tastes like
something you never tasted before. Not
many people put up decorations like an
origami paper moon, but most have
family gatherings. I sometimes celebrate
Moon Day if it is during school vacation.
Moon Day
is not a
major
holiday, but
it is a very
fun
holiday!
My Birthday
A minor holiday that we celebrate is my
birthday. On my birthday I get a lot of
presents. When I go to school I bring in
cupcakes and I get pencils and stuff from
the teachers. Then I get home from
school I get to pick where we go to eat. I
usually like to go to Chuck E Cheeses
because it has pizza and you can win
prizes. Then my family calls me and
wishes me a Happy Birthday and then I
go to sleep.

A New World Holiday
A Special Holiday
If I were to make a new world holiday
that everybody in the world would
celebrate I would make a holiday called
Kid’s Day. On this holiday, kids would
be able to shop at any store for free.
Even in amusement parks, they would be
allowed in the acts and performances. I
would set this holiday on April 21st, one
day before my birthday! I would chose
this holiday because I am a kid and I
have always thought it would be fun to
have a holiday like this.
I think
everybody would like this day, except
maybe the storeowners.
Christmas is a special holiday in our
house. On Christmas Eve day my Dad’s
family goes out to brunch, and my Mom,
Dad, my sister Erin and I go, too. After
we are through eating brunch we go to
my Grammy’s house and exchange
presents. I always get really good
presents. When we are through we go
home and get ready for Christmas Eve.
We put out our presents to each other
and get in our Christmas pajamas. We
always have hot chocolate, leave Santa
his cookies, and read holiday stories.
Erin and I go
to bed and she
usually
falls
asleep, but I
never get much
sleep
that
night. After a
long time I fall
asleep,
then
Santa comes. As he goes he somehow
sprinkles magi on me. I believe this
magic is to make me get up look at the
presents and wake up my parents. I’m so
anxious to open all my presents. After
we open the presents my Mom makes a
delouse breakfast for everyone. Around
2:00 PM in the afternoon we go to my
Mom’s side of the family and I still get
more presents. I do love getting presents
but it is better to be with my family.

Christmas
Kids’ Day
Christmastime is special to my family.
We have traditions such as baking
cookies and decorating, inside and out.
We drive to a few places to see their nice
decorations every year, too. On the
weekends before Christmas, we have
friends over to celebrate. On Christmas
Eve, my family exchanges gifts with
each other. On Christmas morning we
open our “ stocking” gifts, have
breakfast, and then we open our “Santa”
gifts under the tree. After lunch we go
to my grandparents house. There, we
get even more gifts! We also get to see
all our cousins. The next morning we
refer to as “Pajama Day”. We sleep late
and lay around all day in our new stuff.
I love
Christmastime.
On Kids’ Day children get to have
anything they want for free. They also
get to do anything they want. The
parents cannot tell them what to do or
punish them. Their holiday would be

good weather and it is in the summer.
