MYP Facebook Project
While reading The Great Gatsby, you kept dialectical journals
about a character and his/her American Dream. Now, you are going
to take that information and create a facebook page for your
character. While you can have fun and be creative with this
project, remember to keep in character and focus on your
character’s American Dream. You will be presenting your project
to the class and explaining how different symbols and ideas
relate to your character.
Profile Page
 Find a picture of your character. This can be clipart or
you could dress up as your character and insert a real
picture (this will be on your information page as well).
 Write an original quote that encompasses your character’s
American Dream. This will go under the ‘Write something
about yourself.’ section.
 Create at least 3 wall postings from other characters from
the novel. Your postings should stay in character and
somehow reflect your character or the other characters’
American Dreams. Postings must have a picture of the
character. Have fun with this!
 Your character should receive a “gift” from another
character. This gift should be a symbol of your
character’s American Dream. (This goes in the bottom left
corner of the profile and information pages.)
 Create a status for your character. (This goes at the top
of the page and in the what are you doing right now’
section.)

 Complete the Basic Information for your character. This
needs to be as accurate to the novel as possible.
 Complete the Personal Information.

o List 2 songs*
o List 2 TV shows*
o List 2 movies*
o List 2 books*
o List 2 quotes from The Great Gatsby that embody your
character’ s true self
 Complete the Education & Work Section – be as accurate as
possible
 Create 2 “Groups” that your character may be members of.
For example, Gatsby may join a group dedicated to throwing
lavish parties.
*The songs, TV shows, movies, and books should somehow relate to
your character and his/her American Dream. Be prepared to give a

detailed explanation during your presentation. You may choose to
list more, but be prepared to explain the 2 required.
When the REQUIRED information is completed, you can go back and
add friends, birthday, albums, etc. Have fun and be appropriate!
