D.A.R.E. Essay Information Outline
Essay is MANDATORY! That means YOU MUST DO IT!
Type your essay on a computer or hand write it. Make sure it is neat and clean!
Spelling and Grammar will count. Have someone check your essay before handing it in.
You may add color, pictures, drawings or anything else that you like to make your essay
look good. BUT, IT IS WHAT YOU WRITE THAT WILL MAKE THE DIFFERENCE!
THE ESSAY CHECK LIST
Put your First and Last Name, School and Teacher on the essay before you begin.
Choose a Title. (You may use the title at the top of this page.)
Essay must have at least 3 Paragraphs! (5 sentence minimum for each paragraph!)
Paragraph #1 – Introduction – How will DARE training help you for the rest of your
life?
Paragraph # 2 - Why is it important to be drug-free?
Paragraph # 3 - What is your NATURAL HIGH? (A “natural High” is what you feel
when you do something you love to do. Everyone has an activity, hobby or fun thing
they love to do that makes them feel great. Tell us about your activity and why it
makes you feel so good.)
Pledge Statement - I promise to be…. (Use your own words. This is a pledge that you
make yourself and your DARE Officer concerning staying away from illegal drugs, not
using / abusing alcohol and stopping violence in our community)
