DACULA HIGH SCHOOL SUMMER READING 2010 Students are to choose one book from the list below from their appropriate grade level. These titles have been chosen based on interest level as well as thematic and social relevancy to high school students. Please note: Books marked with an * are ones which either deal with mature subject matter, have strong language, and/or realistic descriptions. We have attempted to mark all books that we feel some parents may have concerns about; however, we encourage parents to review any book your child chooses. A synopsis for each title can be found on the Dacula High School website. A list of assessment projects to be completed before the third school week is also on the school webpage. Students taking more than one Language Arts class should read the book for the grade level they SHOULD be in, not the grade being made up. 9TH Private Peaceful by Michael Morpurgo 10TH` Unwind by Neal Shusterman 11TH 12TH A Certain Slant of Interred With Their Light by Laura Bones by Jennifer Whitcomb Lee Carrell The Chosen by Chaim The Poisonwood Bible *A Prayer for Owen *A Thousand Potok by Barbara Kingsolver Meany by John Splendid Suns by Irving Khaled Hosseini Cold, Sassy Tree by Ender’s Game by *The Catcher in theThe Life of Pi by Yann Olive Ann Burns Orson Scott Card Rye by J.D.
