MLK vs. Malcolm X DBQ Typed Annotated Outline This annotated outline will be an organized collection of documents in the DBQ packet to answer the document-based question, “Whose philosophy made the most sense for America in the 1960s?” Thesis Do you have a thesis statement that answers the question, “Whose philosophy made the most sense for America in the 1960s?” Your thesis statement should not only contain an answer to the question, but it should be analytical. Why was _________’s philosophy most sensical for America in the 1960s? What categories of evidence are you going to use to support your thesis? Outline Next, list each of the four analytical categories you have created as a Roman numeral (I, II, III, IV). For example: I. Education Under each Roman numeral, you should list each document that fits in that analytical category. For each document, write a brief summary of the document’s main idea. In addition to the summary write a short description of how that document supports OR does not support your thesis. For example: I. Education 1. – Document 4’s main idea is that schools must be integrated to promote similar quality facilities and learning. 2. – Document 4 supports my thesis because it shows that King believes school integration will help social healing by allowing the youth of America, the new generation, to work alongside each other for equality.
