Beowulf Group Project
Beowulf is the first story in our language. To better understand the times, the people, the stories,
we need to bring the story to life for our classmates. Today, when you come to class, you will
be assigned to a group. When you meet in the group, you will need to :

Read the section of the poem your group has been assigned.

Identify the figurative language used by the anonymous poet. These include:
alliteration, caesura, kenning, theme, personification, synecdoche,
hyperbole, irony, allusion

Work with lines that describe life in Beowulf’s time or any lines that tell us about his
background, experiences, and achievements.

Identify theme/s from the section you are assigned

Be prepared to participate in the presentation of your assigned section on 8/25 and 8/27
