Part 1 – Analysis Section - Reading: Choose 5 of the following key terms from Acts 1 and 2 and
explain / define them. Now explain how we have witnessed these 5 terms in action so far in the play.
Make sure you make specific references to events and characters from Acts 1 and 2 to support your
answers. Quotes from Acts 1 and 2 may be helpful as well. (Value – 3 each = 15 Marks)

Part 2 – Artistic / Creative Section - Representing: Complete one of the following creative
representing assignments. (Value – 20 Marks)
1. Masks (literal and symbolic) play an integral role in Act 1 of the play. Choose one of the main
characters from Act 1 (Romeo, Juliet, Mercutio, Tybalt, Benvolio, the Nurse, etc.) and create a
mask that he or she might have worn to the Capulet party. The mask must be decorated with
images and/or words that represent your character’s personality. Now write a strong expository
paragraph explaining why you chose the images you did to portray the character on the mask.
2. Create a 3D design of a key symbol or image from Acts 1 or 2 that you feel best represents the
key themes or plot points of the first two Acts of the play. Decorate the design with pictures
and/or words that you think best sum up the first two acts of the play. Now write a strong
expository paragraph explaining how your symbol effectively represents the first two acts.
