Virtual Career Mentoring Marking Period 1 Assignment #3: Write an Essay Due Date: 10/4/13 ** Points will be deducted for turning in assignments after the due date** For the second assignment of the marking period, you are going to write a 5-paragraph essay. This essay needs to by typed, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins and a 12 font (in either Arial or Times New Roman Font). The topic for the essay is “Why I chose to mentor in the field of _(fill in your mentoring profession here)_.” Below is information on writing a basic 5-paragraph essay. Following the basic information is a rubric, which will be used for grading your essay. Please attach a copy to the back of your essay. Generally an essay has 5 main parts: I. An introductory paragraph II. A first informational paragraph III. A second informational paragraph IV. A third informational paragraph V. A conclusion paragraph It is possible to have more than three informational paragraphs in the middle of the essay. For your assignment if you choose to have more than 5 paragraphs, that is fine. You must have a minimum of 5 paragraphs. Each paragraph should be multiple sentences. You are not forced to have 5 sentences in each paragraph, but one and two sentence paragraphs are not allowed.
