Expository Writing
The articles and diagrams comparing cellular division, both mitosis and meiosis,
will be used to write an expository essay describing the phases. Requirements of
the essay include:
1. Use a graphic organizer of your choice for a prewriting to help in
organizing the information.
2. Writing should clearly state the different phases of each division. This
should include a description of the phase and what the cell is preparing to
do during each phase.
3. Include diagrams with labels of both meiosis & mitosis.
4. Essay is a minimum of 2 paragraphs and 15 sentences.

This is the minimum requirements for completing the essay. Extra credit will
be given to essays that provide additional information beyond the 2
