Pattern of Working : Part time working either a 5 day week of 20 hours between 10:00 to 14:00, or a 3 day week of 22.5 hours between 08:00 to

16:00. Alternative arrangements will also be considered. You will not normally be required to work weekends or Public and

Privilege Holiday days.

Purpose of the post:

The Vetting Support Officer will be responsible for assessing, commencing and recording the correct security clearance for National

Assembly staff and contractors. The successful candidate will be based at the National Assembly Buildings, Cardiff Bay.

Key Tasks:

 To be the main reception point for all initial vetting requirements for new starters required to work within the National Assembly for

Wales (NAfW) estate, ensuring that suitable checks are carried out within the parameters of NAfW policy.

 Registration of candidates with external vetting agencies and monitoring returns to ensure suitable security clearance can be issued.

 Identifying personnel whose security clearance is in need of renewal and ensuring this is actioned prior to the lapse date.

 Maintenance of the personnel security vetting database(s).

 Authorising issue of NAfW security passes.

 Arranging for allocation of AMSS ICT profiles where required.

 Liaison with vetting points of contact in other departments, ensuring that changes in policy are promptly distributed.

 Maintenance of paper vetting records in accordance with the Data

Protection Act, ensuring secure storage and appropriate disposal where required.

 Effective English written communication skills to ensure that all important information is logged and transmitted.

 Strong ICT skills, including the use of MS Office packages.

 The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced criminal record check;

 The successful candidate will be employed on a flexi-time contract, with the hours negotiable with the Head of Security.
