Essay by Sierra Johnson Heritage Middle School Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. In my opinion Martin Luther King Jr. has made the greatest contribution to American society. Without him countless contributions made from others might not be possible. Dr. King's like the planter of a tree and the tree too. The branches of the tree are other African-Americans that have followed. The fruit that grows on the branches are the contributions made by them. Without the planter of the tree, other people wouldn't have the opportunity for their fruit to ripen. The contributions they make are really Dr. King's. Barack Obama probably would not have been president. Oprah Winfrey might not have charities. Even if famous African-Americans did get the chance, it would've been a delay. I might not get to go to an educating school. A question that I have is "If Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. didn't try to change civil rights, who would have?". HE tried to make America equal, not just for African-Americans. HE did it peacefully. HE boycotted so you can sit in any seat you wanted on the bus.. Peacefully. HE made a speech and marched in Washington D. C., bringing out the biggest crowd in D. C. history. Peacefully. HE had a dream, and HE worked for it so that it came true. I think that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. is the African-American who has made the greatest contribution to American society.
