American History: World War I at home Essay Question
Choose one area of American life that you believe was affected most by WWI. After choosing your topic, do
some prewriting (web, outline, etc.) for your essay. This will need to be submitted with your essay. The essay
will need to include the following parts:
1. Introductory paragraph—This paragraph should tell the reader the topic you chose and a brief overview
explaining why you chose this topic.
2. Body paragraphs—You must have a minimum of 2 body paragraphs. Each body paragraph should
explain a reason why you believe the topic was the most affected by WWI. Be sure to use facts to
support the argument you outlined in the introductory paragraph.
3. Concluding paragraph—This paragraph needs to wrap up your argument for the reader. It should not be
a repeat of the introduction, and it needs to be more than one sentence saying that is why you think it
was the most affected. It should leave the reader with a sense of closure to your argument and help
leave them convinced of your point of view.
This essay is worth 25 points. The introduction and conclusion will be worth 6 points total. Neatness and
grammar will be worth 2 points, and the content of your material will be worth 17 points. You will have all of
class today to work on the essay. It doesn’t need to be typed, but if you are a sloppy writer, it may improve
your grade.
