ANTICIPATION
Look at the photo.
Describe the picture. What can you see?
A young man is wearing a black shirt and a necklace.
He has piercing on his lower lips.
He’s wearing lots of ear-rings.
He has a light moustache and a thin beard.
He has short red hair. His hair is dyed red.
His skin is very white.
He is slim.
Pour décrire une image, on utilise le présent Be+ING
What could the young man be studying? Art? Medicine? Technology? Computer
programmer?
Judging from his looks, the young man in the photo could be studying art. But you never
knows.
How do you think people react to his looks?
Different people react differently. It depends. Some probably like his looks, others don’t.
What about you?
Personally I don’t like this / I rather like his looks.
Why?
Because it’s not my style. / Because I think it is fashionable.

A teacher’s looks are as important as a doctor’s or a nurse’s looks.
Ex: I don’t agree. They’re more important. I think a teacher should be well-dressed. It’s
nice to have a teacher who is well-dressed. It makes you respect him or her more. It
gives him or her more authority. There are rules in society. If you don’t follow them,
you are considered as different, an outcast. Looks are very important. Often you need to
submit to the rules ( of a school, of a company, of a place )
I think a doctor’s looks are more important because it is the symbol of reliability. I
wouldn’t mind having a teacher wearing piercing and tattooing. On the contrary, I
would be shocked to see a doctor with ten earings or a giant piercing on his eyebrow.
