Cabot Forbes (Carey Elwes) – Shaw’s second in command
John Rawlins (Morgan Freeman) – older man who becomes a non-commissioned officer
Silas Trip (Denzel Washington) – escaped slave; very strong-willed
Jupiter Sharts (Jihmi Kennedy) – escaped slave; sharpshooter
Thomas Searles (Andre Braugher) – Shaw’s boyhood friend
Your essay should be typed, approximately 2 pages double spaced. The essay is due
