An epic hero is a larger-than-life figure who embodies the ideals of a nation or race. Epic heroes take part in
dangerous adventures and accomplish great deeds. Many undertake long, difficult journeys, displaying great
courage and superhuman strength. Odysseus is the epitome (perfect example) of an Epic Hero.
Write to explain how Odysseus is the epitome (perfect example) of the epic hero because he possesses all
the necessary character traits. (See handout/notes)
