Changing from Scientific Notation to Standard Notation (NORMAL MODE)
Write 8.23 3 107 in standard notation.
Write 6.2 3 10 23 in standard form.
You will enter the digits before 3 10, then press
(EE) followed by the exponent.
On the HOME screen,
press
Enter the problem on the HOME screen.
Press
Although it says EE above the comma key, only one E will appear in scientific mode. In
NORMAL mode, the calculator will always give an answer in scientific-mode format if the
answer is more than 10 digits or less than the absolute value of 0.001.
Changing from Standard Form to Scientific Notation (SCIENTIFIC MODE)
Write 51 million in scientific notation.
Change the calculator to SCI mode to display all
answers in a format similar to scientific notation.
Press the MODE key.
Arrow right to SCI. Press
to select.
The calculator is now in Scientific Mode.
Press
to return to the Home screen
Enter the problem.
Press
Solution: 5.1 E 7 means 5.1 3 107
Write 0.0000756 in scientific notation.
Press
Solution: 7.56 E−5 means 7.56 3 1025
