For example, 4 = 1 x 4, 2 x 2 6 = 1 x 6, 2 x 3 Therefore, Factors of 4 are 1, 2, and 4 Therefore, Factors of 6 are 1, 2, 3, and 6. So, the common factors of 4 and 6 are 1and 2. Greatest Common Factor (G.C.F.) - The largest common factor two or more numbers have in common. Therefore, the G.C.F. of 4 and 6 would be 2. For example, 7 = 1 x 7 7 is a prime number since it has only two different factors. A number that has more than two factors is called a composite number. For example, 14 = 1 x 14, 2 x 7 So, 14 is a composite number as it has more than two factors.
