Have students set up their board like this:

Allow your students to choose the target number they want to solve for.
Roll a die 7 times, allowing your students to place each number where ever they choose on the game board. Two numbers can be discarded in the trash can Once the numbers have been placed, have students solve the problem using order of operations. The student closest to the target number wins.
For variety, allow students to “switch” two or more numbers around to get closer. or change the board set up to include an exponent or other operation signs.

Materials: One number die
Worksheet or dry erase board and marker.
Set up your board like the example below, or use the worksheet provided in the center.

1. Choose a target number.
2. Roll the die 7 times. Place the number where ever you choose on the game board.
Two numbers can be discarded in the trash can.
3.Once the numbers have been placed, solve the problem using order of operations.
4. The student closest to the target number wins.
