Inline Skating You and your friend are inline skating around a trail at a
park. You both start skating at the same time from the same location.
You skate the trail in 8 minutes, while your friend skates the trail in
6 minutes. You both stop skating when you both are at your starting
place at the same time again. How long do you and your friend skate?
Method 1: Make a list. List the multiples of each number.
Multiples of 6: 6, 12, 18 , 24 , 30 , 36 , 42, 48, 54, …
Multiples of 8: 8, 16, 24 , 32 , 40 , 48, 56, …
The LCM of 6 and 8 is 24 .
Method 2: Use prime factorization.
Write the prime factorization of each number.
