Tropical Cyclone Jacob was located approximately 400km South East of Christmas Island at 7am this morning. This situation is being constantly monitored. 1. Residents are advised to: Clear your property of materials that may cause damage by being blown about in high winds. Clear all drains and gutters on your property. Stock up on emergency supplies eg. First aid kit, transistor radio, torch, spare batteries, food and water. Tie down boats and trailers. 2. Cyclone warning lights are located at the following locations: Drumsite (intersection of Murray Road and Golden Bosun Road). Poon Saan (Community Centre and Murray Road). Kampong (near old swimming pool). Settlement (Gaze Road near Gaseng Fuel Farm). 3. The categories of alert shown by the cyclone warning lights if activated are as follows: Blue Alert – A cyclone has formed and may affect the area within 24-48 hours. Yellow Alert – A cyclone is moving close to the area and appears inevitable within 12 hours. Red Alert – A cyclone is imminent to impact the area within 4-8 hours.
