The last date to meet the requirements is 31 December 2008. Purpose Holders of the qualification are able to work unsupervised in the areas of captive wild birds, captive wild mammals or captive wild reptiles and amphibians. People are able to specialise in their chosen field. This qualification may lead on from the National Certificate in Captive Wild Animals (Zoological Gardens and Wild Life Parks). The diploma is designed for those people who have furthered their skills within specialist areas of captive wild animal management, to work as a member of a team providing care for and management of, captive wild animals, and to provide support for senior management or the veterinarian in a captive wild animal environment. Electives within the diploma allow for differing workplace requirements, and individual interest areas. Unit standards and achievement standards that are equivalent in outcome are mutually exclusive for the purpose of award.
