JOB DESCRIPTION Job Title: Project Worker Responsible To: Service Manager Location of Job: Bridge House, Preston Service Manager Deputy Manager Residential Project Workerx2 Children and Families Project Administrator Residential Cook & Housekeeper Worker Overall Purpose of Job: To assist the Residential Manager and staff team in the efficient and effective running of Bridge House, a 16 bed Registered Care Home for Men and Women who are alcohol dependent and who have identified the need for residential therapeutic support and abstinence as a positive alternative. To ensure the provision of a range of therapeutic interventions are available to meet residents’ needs and facilitate behavioural change. This would include one-to-one support, counselling, assistance with health, social, psychological, financial and legal issues, all of which will draw upon available treatment options and community resources. Main Activities: 1. To be involved in the assessment, admission and discharge of clients. 2. To draw up care plans and structured programmes in conjunction with, and for, each resident throughout the process of rehabilitation at Bridge House. 3. To be involved in a programme of internal and external activities as a part of the therapeutic community. This includes assisting the team in co-facilitating groups and providing emergency 1: 1 support with other residents, as well as providing effective keywork sessions. 4. To liaise with referral agencies and significant other organisations on the progress of residents, including completing professional progress reports. 5. To assist the manager in ensuring that each resident is familiar with the rules and practice of the project and conditions relating to their health and safety. 6. To develop training programmes to meet the needs of the resident group. 7. In conjunction with other members of the staff team to provide continuing care to ex-residents. 8. To assist the Service Manager in promoting this service. 9. To ensure the maintenance and security of client records. 10. To undertake service delivery within the Project in accordance with the Project Action Plans and contractual requirements. 11. To work as a part of the team in ensuring effective day-to-day management of the projects within the legislation guidelines and rules under which they operate. 12. To assist in other aspects of the general project, including, but not limited to, dispensing of medication (after the provision of recognised training) participating in the team’s provision of on-call procedures. The latter would involve the postholder being on-call generally 2 nights every 8 days. 13. Any other tasks that fall within the scope of the post. General: 1. The post holder is expected to be flexible with regards to their working hours to meet the demands of the project and will be required to be available out of hours on-call on a rota basis. 3. The post holder must be in sympathy with the ethos, aims and objectives of ADS. 4. The post holder may, on occasion, be required to travel to other locations. Accountability: The Residential Project Worker is accountable to the Service Manager, who is accountable to the Area Director. The Area Director is accountable to the Chief Executive, who is accountable to the Board of Trustees. JOB SPECIFICATION Experience, Qualifications and Training: 1. A recognised relevant professional qualification (e.g. Degree/Dip in Social Work, Nursing, Addictions studies, or equivalent). OR Demonstrable experience and competence of working in the substance misuse field with a commitment to work towards a NVQ3 in Health and Social Care, comprising DANOS units or other relevant qualification. ESSENTIAL 2. Experience of working as part of a team where effective communication is vital and an integral part of the role. ESSENTIAL 3. Relevant therapeutic skills and experience in order to assess individuals’ needs, implement a Care Plan and provide on-going supportive care. ESSENTIAL 4. Knowledge and/or experience of the range of drug and alcohol related problems and their impact on the individual, families and community ESSENTIAL 5. Experience of working in a residential service. DESIRABLE 6. Ability and knowledge to work on a one-to-one basis with individuals using recognised theoretical models/tools ESSENTIAL 7. Experience of therapeutic groupwork facilitation ESSENTIAL 8. Knowledge of Welfare Rights and Housing. DESIRABLE 9. Capable of preparing professional letters and reports and ability to, liaise and build positive working links with professionals from a variety of disciplines. 10. Experience of maintaining confidential records and ESSENTIAL ESSENTIAL providing information for monitoring and evaluation, as well as possessing effective communication skills. 11. Ability to work independently, prioritise, plan and manage own workload on a day-to-day basis, using effective time management skills. 12. Ability to reflect and develop own practice.
