OF FIRE-EXTINGUISHING AEROSOL GENERATOR
OF OPERATIONS USING
ST -Sobol 60

1. PURPOSE
1.1. The ST-Sobol 60 fire-extinguishing aerosol generator of operations using (further it is named as "the generator") is the volumetric fire-fighting device intended to localize and fight fires caused by tindery and combustible liquid (petrol and other petrochemicals, organic solvents, etc) and solid materials (timber, insulating materials, plastics, etc) and electrical equipment (power and high-voltage installations, consumer and industrial electronics, etc), including those that operate with voltages up to 40 kV.
1.2. The generator is not applied to extinction alkaline and alkaline earth metals, and also substances which burn without access of air.
1.3. The generator is intended for using by soldiers of the subdivisions of the State Fire
Protection and by the stuff of enterprises and organizations having the special training for fire extinction in premises of buildings and structures and also in holds, bodies, saloons, and other closed compartments of transports.
2. THE PRINCIPLE OF ACTION AND SOME CHARACTERISTIC FEATURES
2.1. The principle of action of the generator is based on inhibition of chemical processes of combustion by superfine corpuscles of salts of the alkaline metals, given off during combustion of aerosol forming charge, and capable to be in a suspension in air of a premise for long time.
2.2. The fire-extinguishing aerosol is chemically neutral, it is dielectric, it is non-toxic in working concentration, it is easily dissolved in water. The water solution has weak alkaline reaction.
2.3. In case of operation of the generator oxygen concentration in a protected premise does not decrease.
2.4. After operation of the generator the aerosol is removing from a premise by airing.
3. TECHNICAL CHARACTERISTICS
3.1. Weight of the equipped generator without adjusting and fixing products is:

3.2. Weight of aerosol forming charge is - 3,3 kg.
3.3. The maximal protected volume of a conditionally leakproof premise (d< 0,001 sup3, where d - the attitude of total area of constantly open apertures to volume of a protected premise) is 60 sup3;.
3.4. The system of actuation is manual.
3.5. Operating time is -33 sec.
3.6. The delay period of operation of the generator after is not less than 6 sec.
3.7. Overall dimensions : diameter not more than 227 mm; length not more than 74 mm.
3.8. Working conditions: the interval of working temperature is from – 50° C up to + 50° C; the relative humidity at 25° C - 98 %.
3.9. The total expiration date is 10 years.
- The period of warehousing of generators is 3 years since the day of being manufactured.
- The expiration date is 7 years after installation it for the alert position.
4. PREPARATION OF THE GENERATOR FOR OPERANION AND ACTUATION OF
IT.
4.1. For preparation of the generator for operation it is necessary to place the node of start into a special threaded apertures on its body.
4.2. To actuate the generator you should:
- take the generator handle by one hand;
- remove the protective capsule from the node of start;
- unloose the rope loop and quickly pull it along the axis of the node of start.
- pelt it into the aflame premise.
5. RECOMMENDATIONS TO EMPLOYMENT
5.1. The generators "ST-Sobol(60)" are recommended as a primary means of fire- fighting in closed premises, especially in cases of laboured accession or a menace for lives of the establishment.

5.2. Taking into consideration the absence of reliable information about existence of open apertures (door, windows, hatches etc.) into the aflame premise, for making the necessary concentration of the aerosol it is necessary to be proceed from the fact that, one generator must be for the volume of 45 sup3;.
In cases of fire extinction in premises of big volume for making the necessary concentration of the aerosol, quantity of the simultaneously pelted generators is calculated by the following formula:
N = V/45,
In which N is a quantity of the pelted generators (pieces),
V is the volume of the premise, sup3; in this case the result is rounded with increasing to the whole number.
5.3. Having open apertures in the premise it is necessary to assume measures for increasing of aerosol losses by shutting the windows, door, hatches etc for the ability.
5.4. It is necessary to provide pelting of the all necessary for this volume quantity of the generators, not interrupting their delivery.
5.5. In case of necessary the employment of the generators ST-Sobol(60) does not exclude finishing of fire extinction with the help of the other fire-fighting devices.
6. SAFETY ARRANGMENTS
A T T E N T I O N !
To the work with the generators only specially instructed and trained persons are accepted!
The measures should be assumed for strict consideration of the generators and nodes of start and excluding occasional persons working with them.
Installing the node of start into the generator it is necessary to exclude mechanical influences, which can cause the accidental start.
After unloosing the rope loop of the node of start the generator must be unnecessarily immediately pelted, even if there is no assurance of operating of the node of start.
In case of accidental start of the generator it is necessary to pelt it immediately to a safe place for the by-standers.

When the generator operates, the zone with the temperature up to 337° C is formed within a radius of 0,25m.
The presence of the fire-extinguishing aerosol in the air make visibility low or even zero in a premise.
On generator operation the given off aerosol is not toxic but it irritates mucous membranes of the respiratory organs, because of that entering the premise in which the generators have been used is allowed after the finishing their operation only or having means of protection for the respiratory organs.
IT IS FORBIDDEN: to remove the protective capsule from the node of start before the doer decides to use the generator; to use the generator in premises where there are people or on the ways of evacuation; to try to stop the following operation of the generator after unloosing the rope loop of the node of start.
7. TRANSPORTATION AND STORAGE
7.1 The node of start is supplied in set with the generator, but it is not installed into the generator.
7.2. Warehousing of generators is carried out in an original packing in closed premises with temperature from + 5° C up to + 40° C and relative humidity up to 80 %, without corrosives.
7.3. According to the instructions at an original packing piling up the generators no more than 5 on each other is allowed.
7.4. The generators originally packed may be transported by all kinds of vehicles.
7.5. The generators equipped by the nodes of start must be store separately from the other generators in a specially chosen premise.
7.6. The equipped generators must be protected from the mechanical influence on the node of start.
7.7. Piling up the equipped generators is forbidden.

7.8. The equipped generators may be transported in specially chosen compartments of transports protected them from the accidental mechanical influence.
Installing the generators at the alert position the proper marks should be made at the label and in the passport.
