KAPLAN UNIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
THE PROGRAM
Kaplan University has established a scholarship program to assist teachers from Queen Anne’s County
Public School district who plan to enroll in Kaplan University’s Master’s of Science in Education (MSE) or
Master’s of Science in Education in Instructional Technology (MSEIT) program.
ELIGIBILITY
Applicants must meet all of the following criteria:
 Be an active, full-time teacher employed by Queen Anne’s County Public Schools, Maryland.
 Have tenure status as of April 1, 2012.
 Hold a valid Maryland professional teaching certificate (SPC or APC).
 Have a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally or nationally accredited institution recognized by the
U.S. Department of Education. Please Note: Employees who already hold a Master’s degree are
not eligible to apply.
 Have a minimum undergraduate cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
 Plan to enroll in at least one course per term in Kaplan University’s Master’s of Science in
Education (MSE) or Master’s of Science in Education in Instructional Technology (MSEIT)
program. Enrollment must begin no later than July 5, 2012.
 Meet Kaplan University admissions standards and be accepted for the designated online program.
Important Notes: Current Kaplan University graduate students in one of the designated online programs
are eligible to apply provided they are in good financial standing with Kaplan University. Any awards
granted to current Kaplan University students will be made in the term subsequent to the application
term.
AWARDS
One scholarship covering full tuition at Kaplan University for the entire degree program will be granted.
Awards are for the MSE and MSEIT graduate study programs at Kaplan University only. To continue
receiving scholarship funds, the recipient must:



Meet Kaplan University’s standards for satisfactory academic progress as detailed in the Kaplan
University Catalog.
Maintain cumulative grade point average of 3.25 in the designated program.
Be continually enrolled in the designated program at Kaplan University, taking a minimum of two
courses per term, with exceptions consistent with the University leave of absence policy as
detailed in the Kaplan University Catalog.
APPLICATION
Interested employees must submit the application form and essay to Human Resources no later than
April 1, 2012.
The recipient of the scholarship must complete a Kaplan University graduate application and submit an
official copy of their undergraduate degree. Grade reports are not acceptable. Online transcripts must
display student name, school name, grade and credit hours earned for each course, and term in which
each course was taken. The award recipient is responsible for gathering and submitting all necessary
information to Kaplan University.

SELECTION OF RECIPIENTS
The scholarship recipient will be selected on the basis of undergraduate academic performance,
demonstrated leadership and participation in school and completion of an essay question. Financial need
is not considered. Selection will be made by the Scholarship Selection Committee comprised of QACBOE
administrators. All applicants agree to accept the decision as final. Applicants will be notified by May 15,
2012. Only one recipient will be chosen.
PAYMENT OF SCHOLARSHIPS
The recipient will receive payment in the form of tuition waivers throughout the entire degree program.
REVISIONS
Kaplan University reserves the right to review the conditions and procedures of this scholarship program
and to make changes at any time, including termination of the program.
