Resident Subspecialty Grant FAQs for ASCP website What is an ASCP Resident Subspecialty Grant? An ASCP Resident Subspecialty Grant is money given to defray the cost of doing elective rotations at outside institutions in fields of pathology in which the Resident desires increased exposure. Who Can Apply for A Grant? • Any ASCP Resident member who is training in pathology in the U.S. or Canada • You can be PGY1, PGY2, PGY3, or PGY4 How Much Grant Money is Available? 1-week rotation=$500 2-week rotation=$1000 4-week rotation=$2000 How to Apply Fill out the grant application and send it to ASCP The grant application can be found at: www.ascp.org/residents Click on Resident Grants and Awards Grant Application Requirements • Completed grant application form • Letter of intent (500 words or less)-include details of structured rotation or objectives of rotation • Letter from Residency Program Director • Letter from accepting institution • Current CV/resume • Your ASCP membership number (must be a current ASCP Resident member to apply for a subspecialty grant) • Current head shot of you (emailed) • Examples of your participation in ASCP activities (if any) Letter of Intent • 500 words or less • Written by You • Should describe your proposed rotation • What will you be doing in the rotation? • Who will you work with? • Why did you choose this rotation? • Why do you need this rotation? • Should include the structured objectives (if these are available) • Should include your PG Year Letter from Program Should: • Be from your current Program Director authorizing you to participate in the rotation • State if there is any salary funding for the rotation from your institution Letter from Accepting Institution Should state: • That you have been accepted for a rotation • What specialization the rotation will cover (i.e. dermpath, surgpath, etc.) • What the dates of the rotation are • Who the supervising physician(s) is Required Photo The photo should: • Be a headshot of you • Be emailed to jaime.andriopoulos@ascp.org in .jpg format • Be preferably 200x300 pixels @72dpi (but we understand if this isn’t perfect!) • Do not mail a print photo with your application-No photo prints will be accepted • Photos of recipients may be used for the ASCP eNews and website Examples of Participation with ASCP • This can be added as part of the intent letter or as a separate sheet • If you have not volunteered with ASCP, you do not need to include this • Examples of volunteering with ASCP: • Serving on a Committee or as a Resident Rep • Attending the Annual Meeting or reception at USCAP • Posting on ASCP’s Facebook or Twitter pages Can the Rotation be Internationally Based? • Yes, the rotation can take place outside the U.S. or Canada.
