National Conference for College Women Student Leaders: Leadership for Today and Tomorrow May 31st – June 2nd, 2012 University of Maryland – College Park The American Association of University Women (AAUW) and the National Association of Student Personnel Administrators (NASPA) have partnered to promote education and equity for all women and to train college-age women in leadership skills that will serve them in their student leadership roles on campus, as well as in new opportunities after graduation, through the National Conference for College Women Student Leaders. Through presentations, small group interactions, and networking opportunities, the three-day conference provides collegiate women with opportunities to gain skills in: *career and financial planning *using technology *effective communication *advocacy and civic engagement *world climate, diversity, and inclusion *life balance and lifestyle issues *team building and group dynamics *leadership and management The National Conference for College Women Student Leaders is the only one of its type in the nation, and it has a rich tradition of preparing young women for leadership positions. Participants return to campus with new leadership competencies, broadened feminist perspectives about their roles in society, and ideas on how to further nurture other women as leaders on campus. These are lifelong skills that will serve the participants well as they move beyond their college years and into professional positions and service-oriented roles. The University of Wyoming supports a student (undergraduate) delegation to attend this conference every summer. Students are selected based upon their demonstrated interest in improving the learning experience for female students at UW and their involvement with university funders. All costs associated with this conference will be covered for the students selected to participate. However, all students selected to attend this conference will be required to: 1. Attend a day long (Saturday 9 am – 2 pm) workshop on April 21st. 2. Attend a pre-conference planning meeting the second week of April. 3.
