CARICOM SUMMIT ON CHRONIC NON-COMMUNICABLE DISEASES
(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The first CARICOM
Heads of Government Meeting on Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) is
scheduled for 15 September 2007 at the Crowne Plaza Trinidad.
On behalf of the Secretary-General, it is our pleasure to invite you/your organisation
to participate in the Media coverage of this summit.
A fully-equipped Media Centre will be among the facilities in operation for the
duration of the meeting. The Media Centre will be located in the Ajax Room at the
meeting venue and will be available for use by accredited media practitioners and
representatives covering the Summit.

MEDIA FACILITIES
Access to the Media facilities will be available only to accredited media professionals - journalists,
photographers, radio broadcasters, film and television cameraperson, production assistants and
technicians.
The Media Centre will be equipped with computers and other basic tools, mainly facsimile, photocopying
and telephone services. However, no long distance (overseas) calls or fax messages will be
available on the Media Centre’s lines; arrangements for these must be made and the cost borne
by the individuals themselves.
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
1.
Editing and Taping Facilities:
Radio and television correspondents who require editing and taping support must request these
services through the Host Country Counterpart at least twelve (12) working days prior to the
start of the Meeting.
2.
Press Briefings/Conferences
Regular briefings by the Meeting spokesperson and news conferences by Heads of Delegation will be
held in the Press Briefing Room, which will be located on site.
3.
Media Identification
Security for the conference requires all media personnel to have both their media house
identification and their Media Accreditation badges clearly visible when working at the conference
site.
4.
Customs Clearance
Radio and television reporters, technicians and photographers are required to submit to the Host
Country Counterpart, the following information for effective Customs clearance:

Date(s) of arrival and departure;
(ii)
Airline and flight number;
(iii)

Four (4) copies of an itemised list of equipment, and the value of
equipment.

Departure Tax
A departure tax of Trinidad is TT$100 (Approximately US$17.00) payable at the airport if it is not
already prepaid and included in the overall ticket price.

6.
Accommodation
Each media practitioner or representative is responsible for his/her own accommodation, including
making own reservation, and responsibility for all charges pertaining to accommodation.
