SCHOLARSHIPS







NC State Park Scholarship: Applicants must demonstrate scholarship, leadership, service
and character. To be considered as one of CBA’s two nominees, please submit a resume and
short personal statement describing your educational pursuits, leadership and public service
activities. We have received nominations from teachers; however, ALL seniors are free to
submit a resume and personal statement to Ms. Diggs for consideration by the scholarship
committee. Deadline: September 19th
East Carolina University Honors College: The program is by invitation only. You must
apply to ECU by December 1st and meet the minimum requirements, math/verbal SAT score
of 1200 or a score of 27 on the ACT and a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5 or weighted GPA
of 4.0. More information available at http://www.ecu.edu/honors. Deadline: Apply to ECU
by Dec.1st to the University.
COCA-COLA Scholars: If you can demonstrate leadership, commitment to community and
academic achievement, visit www.coca-colascholars.org. The foundation will award (50)
$20,000 scholarships and (200) $10,000 scholarships for students to attend college. Deadline:
Oct. 31st
Gates Millennium Scholars: You must be African American, American Indian/Alaska
Native, Asian Pacific Islander American or Hispanic American, have a minimum, cumulative
unweighted GPA of 3.3 as well as meet other requirements to apply for this scholarship. More
information & the application is available online at www.gmsp.org. Deadline: January 14,
2015.
Duke and UNC Chapel Hill Robertson Scholars Program: Applicants should be
extraordinary high school leaders of outstanding academic potential and character. You must
have high academic achievement and be able to leverage your leadership skills to greatly
impact the community and world. You must also apply to Duke or Chapel Hill. Go to
http://my.robertsonscholars.org/application to apply.
UNC Charlotte Levine Scholars Program: The program offers a four-year scholarship that
includes full tuition, room and board, a new laptop and four summer experiences. Applicants
should have an unweighted GPA of 3.8 or higher, and a score of 1800 or better on the SAT and
29-36 on the ACT. You must demonstrate a commitment to community service and a capacity
for ethical leadership. Submit a resume if you are interested in being nominated. Deadline:
October 10th
NC State’s Centennial Scholarship: CBA will nominate 2 seniors to compete for
this award for the College of Textiles. Please bring your academic resume to Ms. Diggs if you
would like to be considered. In general this is a competition for well-rounded students who are
interested in studying in the fields of engineering, business management, chemistry, polymer
chemistry international studies, design, apparel, fashion, merchandising or retail management.
The scholarship covers 50% of the cost to attend. One full scholarship will be given totaling
$87,500 over four years. Deadline: October 24th.











Horatio Alger Association: The program provides financial assistance to students who have
financial need and who have exhibited integrity and perseverance in overcoming personal
adversity. The awards range in value from $2,500 to $20,000. You may find out more
information and apply at www.horatioalger.org/scholarships by October 25th.
BigSun Scholarship: The organization awards scholarships to student athletes. You must be
currently involved in athletics in some capacity either at school or in the community. Go to
http://www.bigsunathletics.com to apply. Deadline is June 19, 2015

Naval Reserve Officer Training Corps (NROTC) Scholarship: Benefits include full tuition &
fees, monthly stipend as well as the freedom to choose your own major. For more information and to
apply go to https://www.nrotc.navy.mil. Deadline: January 31, 2015
Financial Aid & Scholarships at Universities and Colleges: Be sure to visit the financial aid
section of the website of any school to which you intend to apply. This will give you
information regarding scholarships offered by the school.
Quest Bridge: This national scholarship and college match organization offers low-income,
academically strong students the opportunity to gain admission and scholarships to attend their
partner colleges. College Match applications are due Sep. 26th. To complete an application
visit www.questbridge.org.
AES Engineers Scholarship: Students must submit an essay on the topic that appears on the
scholarship page of the web site at http://www.aesengineers.com/scholarships.htm. Deadline:
October 6th
The Thomas Wolfe Scholarship at UNC Chapel Hill: The scholarship is for full
undergraduate support for student writers. You must apply to the university by Oct. 15th and
for the actual scholarship by Nov. 15th. To complete the application online, please go to
http://englishcomplit.unc.edu/creative/scholarships.
NCHSAA Scholar-Athlete Essay Contest: You must currently participate in at least one
sport to compete for the scholarship. The essay can be no more than 400 words and must be
typed, double space, black ink, & 12 pt Times New Roman font. The required title page must
include: essay title, your full name, name of your high school, your current grade and sport(s)
you're playing, your email address, cell phone number and mailing address. The essay prompt
is: “Being a Scholar-Athlete will translate to my future success because...” Submit your essay
via email to patrick@nchsaa.org in PDF format with subject line reading “Scholar Athlete
Essay Contest”. Deadline: September 26th
Jack Kent Cook Foundation College Scholarship: To apply you must intend to enroll in an
accredited four-year college in the fall of 2015, earn a cumulative unweighted GPA of 3.5 or
above, receive SAT combined Critical Reading and Math score of 1200 or above (must test by
Oct. 11th) and/or have composite score of 26 or above on the ACT (must test by Sept. 13th).
You must also demonstrate unmet financial need. Visit www.jkcf.org to learn more.
Applications accepted through November.
Imagine America Foundation: Scholarships are available for students who plan to pursue a
career college education. You must have at least a 2.5 GPA, demonstrate financial need and
voluntary community service. Go to www.imagine-america.org to apply. Deadline:
December 31st
