Emily Galvin presentation on Homelessness, Poverty and Literacy
Emily shared about powerpoint from the Texas Library Association about important to expose children to visual images of poverty-children’s literature is a great way to do this.
Look for the power point and booklists on the cp website. There is a new Multicultural Literature link and we will be developing a recommended booklist.

Instead of going to Denver, think about doing community service here…there are needs with community dinner, rotary food bag, coat drive, coats for older kids
An idea for local action is to organize a glasses drive for Summit County kids…
PYP is encouraging students to do action locally, instead of “Saving the Pandas”

Group members are interested in having a presenter on Culturally Responsive Teaching, but feel we need both types of training. Carla and Lisa create the background knowledge to be able to be culturally responsive.
