LING 306 TEFL METHODOLOGY I
SEMESTER 092 ACADEMIC YEAR 2009-2010

Course Description :
This course describes the various methods of teaching English as a foreign language. The methods are studied in
terms of their underlying linguistic and psychological backgrounds (what is language, its functions, and how it is
learnt), the types of language syllabi they use, the language skills they focus on, and the class procedures they
adopt to implement their objectives. The historical development of the teaching methods is also dealt with in the
course.

The aim of this course is to:

Acquaint the students with the different classroom teaching and learning procedures
