The Oregon Sexual Assault Task Force’s (ORSATF) Sexual Assault Training Institute
(SATI) is recruiting law enforcement instructors with expertise conducting adolescent and adult
sexual assault investigations. Since its first training in January 2003, the SATI has conducted
basic and advanced law enforcement trainings throughout Oregon and nationwide. Our law
enforcement curricula include basic and advance law enforcement topics including victim
interviewing, evidence collection, suspect interview and interrogation, and more.
The Sexual Assault Training Institute currently has active and sworn law enforcement
officers, Sexual Assault Nurse Examiners, Prosecutors, and Victim Advocates on its faculty. In
2011, SATI was awarded a Technical Assistance and Training grant from the United States
Department of Justice’s Office on Violence Against Women to conducting law enforcement training
around the nation. We will also being a new cross training project for law enforcement and
prosecutors in Oregon to improve investigations and prosecutions through collaboration.
Instructors will be expected to participate in curriculum development and reviews, instructor
workdays, as well as attend and assist in the delivery of trainings.
Qualified applicants will have:
 a minimum of five years of experience as a sworn law enforcement officer in Oregon;
 a minimum of two years of experience working as a detective or in an investigative capacity; &
 experience investigating adult and adolescent sexual assault cases, above and beyond child
abuse investigation experience.
Preference will be given to applicants who also have experience providing instruction, conducting
training and/or public speaking. Qualified applicants must complete and pass a criminal history
check.
Applications will be reviewed and scored by a hiring committee consisting of a law enforcement
officer, a prosecutor, a victim advocate, the SATI Coordinator, and the ORSATF Executive
Director. One-year contracts will be offered to selected candidates. SATI Instructors receive
$50/hour for instruction time, $25/hour for consultation time, and $20/ hour for travel time in
addition to reimbursement for meals, mileage and lodging for eligible trips. Instructors will be
expected to devote about 100 hours a year for instruction, consultation, and travel time.
