points and qualified at an Area competition.

qualified at an Area competition

This will be based on the movements required for the BD Novice Freestyle to Music Test 2012
but no movement is compulsory and no penalties will be given for additional advanced movements.
However any movements above Novice standard will be marked according to the level at which they
are executed.
Any tack permitted under British Dressage rules may be used and also a Pelham bridle as part of the
costume. Boots and bandages may be worn and whips carried. Footwear with a defined heel must be
worn. Hats must comply with Riding Club Rule G22.2
Programme length up to five minutes from the move off after the salute at the start to the
halt before the final salute at the end.
PAS DE DEUX (Pairs in costume)
Open to competitors (including juniors) riding horses / ponies with no more than 124 affiliated dressage points. Pairs
may consist of adults, juniors or one of each.
TEST
Dress as Pas Seul above – Programme and Movements to follow BRC Pairs Dressage to Music (2003) –
otherwise as above.
GENERAL RULES
Competitors must be members of an Affiliated Riding Club and need to be a British Dressage full / music
member.
Where not specified rules for the qualifiers and final to be as per the rules for the main L & SE competitions if
appropriate – otherwise the 2012 Riding Club Rule Book will apply.
Numbers to Qualify – each section
PLAIN CLOTHES – Preliminary – the first six will be eligible for the Championships. Novice - the first four in each
section (or eight over both sections) will be eligible for the Championships.
PAS SEUL – the first eight in each qualifier will be eligible for the Championships
PAS DE DEUX – the first eight in each qualifier will be eligible for the Championships.
If there are insufficient entries in any of the classes it will be open for any competitors who are eligible under the rules
– with preference to those competitors who entered a qualifier but were unable to compete. This rule will also be
subject to overall entries on the day.

Competitors may only qualify for Classes 1, 2 and 3 at the qualifier held in their own area.
They may enter open sections in other competitions in order to gain more experience
There will be a separate costume judge for Classes 3 and 4.
Junior competitors are those under 18 on 1 January 2012. No height restrictions on horses or ponies.

Keepsake medals kindly donated by Sonia Windsor will also be given to the winner of classes 1 and 3 and the
winners of both Sections in Class 2.
THERE WILL BE A MOUNTED PRESENTATION AT THE END OF EACH CLASS
ENTRY FEES – Class 1 - £18 per horse
Class 4 - £24 per pair
Class 2 - £18 per horse
Class 3 - £20 per horse
- Inclusive of First Aid cover. No refunds after closing date.
ENTRIES CLOSE – 1 OCTOBER – All eligible competitors will be invited to the Championships
Cheques to be made payable to WEST SURREY LIAISON COMMITTEE.
C.D’s – WOULD ALL COMPETITORS HAVE THEIR NAMES / ADDRESS / INSTRUCTIONS CLEARLY MARKED
ON THE CD case and make sure the CD is marked with horse/rider name. PLEASE HAND TO SECRETARY AT
LEAST 30 MINUTES BEFORE YOU ARE DUE TO COMPETE.
