NEVADA ARTS COUNCIL
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANTS GUIDELINES: FY 2009
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT GRANTS
APPLICATION PROCESS AND REVIEW
Professional Development Grants (PDG) are noncompetitive
grants available to eligible applicants on a first-come, firstserved reimbursement basis throughout the year while funding
is available.
At the beginning of each fiscal year, the NAC Board approves
funding for noncompetitive open deadline grants. Applications
are reviewed for eligibility and completeness by NAC staff as
they are received.

In order to be reviewed, grant applications must be
complete.

Grants will be awarded on a first-come, first-served basis
while funding is available.

Applicants will be notified regarding the status of their
application no later than two weeks after NAC’s receipt of
application.
SUPPORTING PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Participation in events like workshops, conferences and
seminars helps with important elements of the work of those in
the nonprofit arts industry. The Nevada Arts Council’s
Professional Development Grant (PDG) promotes continuing
education for Nevada’s artists, educators, board members and
arts administrators that advances their work and enhances
their careers.
Information gathered during these professional development
activities is shared with colleagues and continues to increase
the knowledge base of Nevada’s cultural workforce long after
the workshop or conference is over.
PDG CATEGORIES
In FY2009 there are three PDG categories in which NAC
accepts applications; Community Arts Development (CADPDG), Folklife (FLK-PDG) and NAC Sponsored Event (NACPDG). Each grant category for professional development is
designed for a specific pool of applicants and may have
additional requirements. If you are unsure which PDG to apply
for, please contact the Nevada Arts Council (NAC) - in Carson
City at 775.687.6680 or in Las Vegas at 702.486.3700.

information gathered about touring, block-booking and
presenting with the Nevada Presenters Network (NPN). NPN is
an informal association of Nevada’s performing arts presenters
and producing organizations committed to increasing the
affordability, quality and quantity of cultural events through
communication and networking. NPN holds quarterly
conference calls and manages a NPN listserv. For more details
on how to share your information with your NPN colleagues
please contact Robin A. Hodgkin, Community Arts
Development (CAD) Program Coordinator, at 775.687.7109 or
