Job Description Example 2 – Research Fellow to include leading a small research project Grade 7 Research Fellow Section 2 - Main Duties Main Function of Post: To take lead responsibility for a small research project funded by xxxxx to investigate/establish xxxxx Job Description: To plan and manage the work of the research team ensuring the optimum use of resources and that the overall project objectives are met To design and conduct a successful programme of investigation To develop research projects to strengthen and expand the existing programme of research To identify sources of funding and contribute to the process of securing funds to sustain the current programme in new areas of research To manage and monitor the research budget(s) To manage the development of research team members To publish in high quality peer reviewed national and international journals To present research at national and international conferences/meetings as appropriate To develop research networks locally, nationally and internationally in support of the research programme To generate and pursue independent and original research ideas in the field of research and support the initiation of new lines of research in related areas To provide guidance to other staff and students in own specialist area, including supervising and assessing undergraduate projects To take part in knowledge – transfer activities, including collaborative meetings with other research groups To maintain knowledge and understanding within the field/specialism, transforming and applying knowledge acquired from scholarship to research You may be asked to perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which 1 will be consistent with the role.
