Vocabulary Screening (CORE Manual pp. 120-146) Overview: Administration: Group or individual Approximate Testing Time: 15 minutes Assesses knowledge of the meaning of grade level words read silently Student chooses a synonym for the target word Materials Needed: Teacher instructions (pp.120-122 CORE manual) Student Record Forms and Keys (pp. 123-146) Pencil Administration: Scoring: Make a copy of Form A, CORE Vocabulary Screening, for student’s grade level. Distribute grade level copy to students. Student writes name and date on the test page. Allow 10-20 minutes to finish. Extra time is permitted. Use appropriate scoring key (scoring key for each screening follows Form B for each grade level). Record the number correct on the student page. Calculate percentage correct by dividing the number correct by 30. Record score on Data Capture Tool.
