Glasgow Central Citizens Advice Bureau Community Jobs Scotland GRAPHICS & WEB ASSISTANT Job Description Job Title Graphics & Web Assistant Responsible to Bureau Manager Outline of Job: The post-holder will assist in designing, creating and updating bureau graphics, forms and documentation, while providing support and maintenance to the bureau website. Also required is a friendly and collaborative approach to gathering and updating information, as well as an ability to undertake solo projects. Main Purpose of the Job Design and create graphical content for use on bureau stationary and publicity materials Create and update bureau documentation and literature Maintain a repository of created and modified content for use by bureau staff Update and maintain the bureau website in coordination with I.T. staff Coordinate with other team members regarding the creation, modification and design of graphics Software Use of a graphics editing package will be required to create, modify and update graphical content Use of a web development package will be required to modify and update the website Knowledge of Microsoft Office 2003, 2007 and 2010 will be required to create and modify documentation and forms Network The use of FTP (File Transfer Protocol) software to add and update files on the web server will be required. OTHER DUTIES Production of appropriate simple user guides and documentation Ability and desire to learn new systems and technologies as required Keep management and staff updated on projects and modifications to the GCCAB website Analyse and resolve problems with the GCCAB website as they occur whilst keeping staff and management updated on progress Any other duties which may reasonably be required of the role by the GCCAB management This is an excellent opportunity for a young person to work within an advice agency environment; build networks and gain transferrable skills that are recognised within many business sectors. GRAPHIC DESIGNER/WEB TECHNICIAN PERSON SPECIFICATION DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS EXPERIENCE SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES KNOWLEDGE OTHER COMPETENCES An HNC or equivalent qualification in graphic design, web development or worthwhile personal experience Previous experience of working with Windows-based computer hardware/software environment in a multiuser, multi-site environment. Experience of using graphics editing packages (such as Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator) to create and modify graphics Experience of using Microsoft Office 2003, 2007 & 2010 to create and update documentation and forms Experience of using web development packages (such as Adobe Dreamweaver) to create and update a website, with a sound knowledge of web development technologies and markup Working on own initiative and as part of a team Communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical volunteer users and staff This post requires excellent communication skills, both verbal and written Working knowledge of Microsoft operating systems (Windows XP Professional and Windows 7 Professional in particular) Good practical understanding of computer hardware, specifically PCs, laptops, printers, servers Knowledge of variety of software Accuracy and attention to detail Ability and desire to learn new software and procedures Ability to analyse and resolve problems Ability to work effectively and efficiently as part of a team and individually Ability to plan, prioritise and organise own workload without daily supervision Experience of working in the voluntary sector e.g. working for a charity or volunteering
