Superintendent and Central Office Visitors
Superintendent Carranza and others will be at Burton High School today. Please welcome them into your classroom, perchance
they stop into your room.
Daily Attendance Recording
Teachers are reminded that taking attendance is an important and required aspect of the job of supervising our students.
Attendance should be recorded twice: once in a record maintained by the teacher—traditional paper-bound attendance book or
electronic spreadsheet and another in the school district’s online submission. Teachers’ access to the online module for
submitting daily attendance closes at 11:59 pm. Please ensure that you have recorded and submitted your attendance prior to
that deadline. With the exception of substitute teachers, we need to move away from Ms. Rivieccio as the submitter to
individual teachers being the submitter.
Miscellaneous Attachments
For your review are a few attachments. One is the profile of Burton High School that determines the level of funding and
support the school receives. You will note that students’ attendance as well as teachers’ attendance are variables that central
office uses for consideration. Additionally, you will find the feedback that the faculty submitted following the last session of our
Access and Equity conversations.
Nitro, Tech Firm
Our partner in the Circle the Schools Campaign is a tech firm called Nitro. Members of their leadership will meet with Mr.
Kappenhagen today at 1:00 pm to design the next project that they will engage. Teachers and staff members who are available
and interested in contributing to this discussion are welcome to participate in Room 103 at 1:00 pm today.

Young Writers' Club Meets in Room 130
Do you write poetry, stories, songs, raps, rhymes, limericks, love-letters, or prose? If you love the written word and want to
enjoy, explore, and publish it with other young wordsmiths, join us in room 130 every Thursday at lunch for the Young Writers'
Club.
Senior Panoramic: Wednesday, November 4th
All members of the Class of 2016 will meet on the home side bleachers of our football field to take the Senior Class Panoramic
Picture. Plan to be on time. We will snap several takes promptly at 9:00 am.
Senior Portraits
Individual senior portraits will be taken on October 26th – 28th. More information will be forthcoming on the appointment slot
for students. The make-up session is scheduled for Wednesday, December 2nd.
Cell Phones, and other Electronic Devices
Our mantra is “Out of sight, out of sound!” Students who use them in class will risk having them confiscated. Students who do
not comply will be referred to the Deans’ Office. Also, students, you are reminded that your ear buds and headphones should
also remain out of sight.
