NEVENE ROLLERSKI MARATHON 2011 JÕULUMÄE SPORTSCENTRE Rollerskiing, 42 ja 21 km mass start General Rules and Program Purpose The purpose of this competition is to promote rollerskiing as pre-season training method for cross country skiers and as separate sports. It is a competing opportunity in summer for skiers at all levels. Target group The competition is meant for all skiers, whose physical form would allow participating. The race is meant for professional, amateur and youth/junior athletes. Participating is allowed for all born in 1996 or earlier, 1999 and earlier for the shorter distance. Younger people can compete only when a written permit from a parent or coach is given. Competing classes: boys/girls MN/NN (born 1994 and later), juniors MJ/NJ (19911993), main class M/N (all), veterans MV/NV (1970 and earlier). All classes are for men and women separately. Organisers have the right to modify the classes according to the number of participants. There is a special class for classical skiers, who will race from the same start as all others. Time July 24th, 2011, Sunday Rollerski half-marathon, 21 km mass start Rollerski marathon, 42 km mass start Place 10.30 12.00 Jõulumäe Health Sports Centre, Pärnu County Jõulumäe Sportscentre is situated about 20 km south from Pärnu city. The centre is 3 kilometers away from the Via Baltica. If you come from Pärnu, drive 17 km from the city limit towards Riga and then turn left according to signs directing to Jõulumäe. When coming from Riga, drive 45 km from Ikla (Latvian-Estonian border) towards Pärnu on Via Baltica, then turn right according to signs directing to the centre. Distances The main event is 42 km, half-marathon is 21 km. Both events will be from mass start. Course Both distances are held on a 3,5 km circuit which loops in the sportscentre’s area. 42 km distance consists of 12 laps, 21 km distance out of 6 laps. The width of the course is approximately 3 meters on 2,5 km section and 5 meters on 1 km section. The road condition is very good. The track is winding and varied in profile. Although the track is not dangerous if being precautious, it is not suitable for beginners. Technique There are separate rankings for free style and classical technique racers. Those who compete in classic are not allowed to skate! Classical racers are included in the overall ranking together with free style racers. Start Both events are held from mass start. Dividing participants into starting groups will be decided one hour before the start the latest according to the number of participants. Organisers have the right to move the skiers with better ranking forward in the start group. NB! On the first 100 m skating is not allowed! Only double poling with parallel skis. Finish The finish will be closed after the finishing of the last participant, but not later than 14.00. Everybody who has not finished by that time will get a rank and time according to the passed distance. Equipment It is allowed to participate only with equipment corresponding to FIS rules: - Safety rollerskis have to be commercially available the distance between rollerski axles cannot be less than 530 mm the wheel diameter cannot be more than 100 mm it is obligatory to use ski poles rollerskis must have XC ski bindings shoes must be attached to the rollerskis by the ski binding it is allowed to change rollerskis and poles during the race Participants must ware helmet and glasses during the race. Racers without helmet and/or glasses are not allowed to start and are disqualified. It is also recommended to use additional protective gear. All participants will compete on their own responsibility. The track is closed for traffic. All participants remarkably slower or left behind have to move to the right side of the road and let other racers pass without complications. Double poling has to be used, when necessary. It is presumed that participants won’t do any dangerous moves and avoid pushing. Medical help Medical service is provided by professional medical staff. if you notice someone in need for medical help, please notify medical workers, organisers or call 112 for emergency. It is not recommended to participate when feeling bad. Service The track has one drinking spot, that is situated next to the start/finish area. Participants can have sports drink or water. Timing Timing will be performed with chip timing system. It is needed to attach electronical chip with velcro strap around a foot just above a ski boot. Timing and result are insured only if the chip has been correctly attached. The chip will be given before the start. Time will be taken in every 3,5 km lap and at finish line. Registering Registering is open at Sportinfo website www.sportinfo.ee up to July 21st 2011. You can pay online through Swedbank, SEB or by VISA card. You can also register via e-mail, when sending a letter to info@nevene.ee. Please include the names, birth time, club and event. An invoice is sent with reply. Registering at start site is open from 9.00 AM. Start materials will be given out at start site from 9.00 until 15 minutes before chosen race. Participating fees 42 km marathon distance pre-registering until July 4th 2011 July 5th – July 21st 2011 July 24th 2011, race day 12 EUR 18 EUR 24 EUR 21 km half-marathon distance pre-registering until July 4th 2011 July 5th – July 21st 2011 July 24th 2011, race day 8 EUR 12 EUR 18 EUR Racers born in 1994 or later have 50% discount of all fees. If the competition is cancelled due to a reason not depending on organisers, then the fees won’t be repaid. Participants will have marked track, timing (only with correctly attached chip), information sheet, starting number, result, diploma, sports drink or water, medical help, if necessary. Results Results are published at the competition site and on the internet on July 25th 2011 the latest. Prizes Prizes will be given to the best men and women of both events incl classical racers. There is a prize for the fastest track timer as well. The prize ceremony will be held approximately 14 o’clock. The time of prize giving may change due to the number of racers and their skiing speed.
