COMPOST DROP-OFF
A compost container is located in the recycling area at Sumpter Township, which
is open Saturdays from 9 am – 1 pm ( no holiday weekends ). This container is to
be used ONLY by Sumpter Township residents for your yard waste, such as grass
clipping, flowers, leaves, brush clippings, small bushes and tree branches. Yard
waste must be placed in biodegradable Kraft paper bags or loose in 30-gallon cans
for ease in dumping into the compost container.

Branches and twigs smaller than 3” in diameter must be placed in bundles no
larger than 2’ by 4’.
Those caught violating these rules and regulations will have their privileges
removed.

NOTICE
Dump Passes Are A Thing Of The Past
Carleton Farms Landfill is open to Sumpter Township residents, Wednesdays,
from 2 pm – 5 pm, and Saturdays, from 6:30 am – 12:30 pm. You are required
to show Sumpter Township residency ( id, drivers license, etc. ). Residents are
limited to 2 loads per calendar month without charge. Residents shall be limited
to passenger car or light duty ( pick-up ) trucks, not to exceed 5 yards in total.
All residents will be required to sign a form stating there is no prohibited items in
their loads ( tires, refrigerators or air conditioners with Freon, etc ), if there are,
they will be responsible for removing such items from the landfill or in the event
the items are missed ( buried under other things ), the resident shall be
responsible for remitting any and all fines to the State as a direct result from their
actions. If they continue to violate the law and/or ruled and regulations, then
their privileges will be suspended indefinitely.

YOUR NEW SOLID WASTE PROGRAM
Republic Waste Services is pleased to have the opportunity to provide Sumpter Township residents an
improved solid waste collection program. Residents will now be provided with a 96 gallon Curb Cart (at
no additional charge) to contain and dispose of their weekly solid waste.
Curb Carts should be placed at the curb with the arrows on top of the Cart pointing toward the street.
Curb Carts should be placed at the curb NO LATER than 6:00 AM on your collection day. Refuse must be
placed at the curb in your new Curb Cart. Please make sure that there is nothing between the cart and
the street. Also, leave 4 feet between your Curb Cart and your bulky items, mailboxes, parked cars, etc.
so we can service you quickly and efficiently.
CART CARE
With the right care your new Curb Cart will last you many years without needing maintenance. Your
new Curb Cart is cleaner since it does not allow odors to escape and its smooth surfaces allow it to
cleaned using a regular garden hose and dishwashing soap. Do not place hot ashes, construction debris,
and/or hazardous waste in the Cart. Also, do not paint or write on the Cart. Each Cart is labeled with a
serial number-residents should take note of the number of their specific Cart.
BULKY ITEMS
Bulky items are anything you cannot place within your Cart such as carpet ( must be bundled no more
than 3 ft in length and secured for one person handling ), water heaters, mattresses & box springs,
furniture and large appliances. Residents must call Republic at 877 – 264 – 5544 prior to placement
curbside.
CARLETON FARMS LANDFILL
Republic will continue to accept your large and bulk materials once per month at no additional charge.
Carleton Farms is located at 28800 Clark Road. Remember to bring driver’s license for proof of
residency. Dump passes are no longer required for Sumpter Township residents to dispose of materials.
UNACCEPTABLE MATERIALS
Republic will not collect the following ( not limited to ) hazardous materials, liquids of any kind, yard
waste mixed with solid waste, whole tires, carbonated beverage containers ( unless they are recyclable),
dead animals, large auto/truck parts, stone/rock/dirt, large amounts of construction & demolition
materials or any other material banned by state law.
RECYCLING DROP OFF CENTER
A recycling drop off station is available to residents that want to dispose of all their recycling materials.
This drop off station is located behind the Township Hall at 23480 Sumpter Road and is open from 9 am
until 1 pm on Saturday.
A list of materials accepted for recycling are as follows:



Clear Glass Bottles & Jars – Must be cleaned and lids must be removed.
Metal Food & Beverage Cans – Must be cleaned
Plastics PETE #1 & HDPE #2 – Must be cleaned, No automotive fluid containers are accepted.
