DRS Student
Membership
Student membership of the Design Research Society
offers an introduction to the activities of the Society and
its global network of leading figures in the design
research community. You may join us at any time
during the year. There is a reduced fee of £30 for
up to 3 years DRS student membership –
equivalent to a £60 saving on the standard rate!
Following completion of your study, you will be invited
to apply for full membership of the Society.
Criteria
To be eligible for DRS Student Membership, you should
be:
 studying in further or higher education and outside
full time paid employment
 interested in research related to design, or researchbased design practice.
Application process
The application process is easy. Just follow these steps:
STEP ONE – Before commencing the application
process, please ensure you have registered on the DRS
website (www.designresearchsociety.org). This will
ensure you are on the DRS database and we will be able
to activate your Student Membership once your
application has been approved.
STEP TWO – Complete the form overleaf and forward it
to an Official at your institution who is able to confirm
your student status. We recommend this is a Tutor, or
someone in Registry or Quality & Standards
departments who is able to confirm details of your
course and your period of study. The Official will be
required to forward the completed form by e-mail to the
DRS Administrator at:
(admin@designresearchsociety.org).
STEP THREE – You will get an electronic invoice from
PayPal, our online payment system. Once paid, by
PayPal/credit card, you will receive your membership
number and login details.
Please note that Student Membership entitles you to all
the normal DRS membership benefits except voting
rights.
